The short version
TELL doesn't have user accounts, doesn't run analytics or advertising trackers, and doesn't send anything you type to a server anywhere. The site is a set of static pages you read in your browser.
The notes feature
The notes panel (the pencil icon) lets you jot down thoughts while reading. Whatever you type is saved using your browser's own local storage, on your own device. It is never transmitted to TELL, to us, or to anyone else — we have no way to see it. Clearing your browser's site data, or clicking "Clear" in the notes panel, deletes it permanently. If you switch browsers or devices, your notes won't follow you, because they were never stored anywhere but that one browser.
Cookies and tracking
TELL does not set cookies and does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. If that ever changes — for example, if we add basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic — this page will be updated first, and the change will be described honestly here.
Third-party content
Chapter pages load web fonts from Google Fonts and reference historical images hosted on Wikimedia Commons. Loading these resources means your browser makes a request directly to Google's or Wikimedia's servers, which may log standard technical information (like your IP address) under their own privacy policies — the same as visiting any site that uses those services. TELL itself doesn't receive or store that information.
Children's privacy
TELL doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it doesn't collect personal information from anyone at all.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does ever changes in a way that affects your privacy — new features, new third-party tools — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
