Korah the Levite and three Reubenites lead a revolt, and the two families want different things. Korah wants the priesthood. Dathan and Abiram want land, and refuse to come when Moses sends. The charge is hard to answer because it quotes the book back: the congregation is holy, so why raise anyone above it? Moses never disputes the premise. He changes the question to who may approach, and proposes a test with censers. Fire settles it, the ground opens, and a plague follows. Then Aaron takes the same censer that killed two hundred and fifty men and runs into the middle of the people with it.
