Some passages in the Hebrew Bible have been read as pointing to a messiah, an anointed king or deliverer who was still to come. Choose a passage to open its entry. Each entry starts with a short summary, and its tabs take you through the Hebrew words, the ancient Greek and Aramaic translations, the manuscripts, and who read the passage which way and when. TELL reports those readings; it does not decide which one is right.

Hebrew and English Bibles do not always number verses the same way. English Psalm 22:16 is Psalm 22:17 in a Hebrew Bible, because the Hebrew counts the psalm's heading as verse 1.
Most Hebrew words are built on a root of three consonants. Each root lists the passages on this page and the TELL chapter cards where a word from it appears.
