Leviticus ends with an appendix, and it is about money. People vow things to the sanctuary — an animal, a house, a field, sometimes a person — and this is the accounting rule. Rates by age and sex, fields priced by the seed it takes to sow them and prorated to the jubilee, a fifth added to anything you want back. Two things cannot be redeemed at any price: the animal tithe and the cherem.
