Because It Is His Food

Two halves, both about what is acceptable. First, who may eat the holy portions — which turns out to be about a priest’s dinner, since the priesthood has no land. The line is not the expected one: a slave the priest has bought eats, and a hired servant does not, because the criterion is household membership rather than free status. Then the animals, with the fullest disqualification list in the book.
