Jacob Flees Laban — The Mizpah Covenant

Laban’s sons resent Jacob’s wealth, and God tells Jacob to go home. He leaves secretly while Laban is shearing, and Rachel steals her father’s household gods. Laban catches up seven days later, searches, and finds nothing — Rachel is sitting on them. Jacob confronts him with twenty years of service met by deception, and they make a covenant at a heap of stones: the LORD watch between me and thee.
