Every Reason Not to Go

Four times Moses says no, and the chapter is largely a record of him losing the argument. He is given three signs and objects anyway; he pleads that his mouth is heavy; he finally asks God to send literally anyone else, and gets the only flash of anger in the scene — and a brother. Then the tone turns without warning: God attacks Moses at a lodging place, and Zipporah saves him with a flint and a sentence nobody has explained.
