Two things here are unlike anything else in the tabernacle account. The bronze basin is made from the polished mirrors of women who served at the door of the tent — the only piece of furniture whose metal is traced to named owners. And the chapter closes with an audit, counted under a named Levite. The silver balances exactly against the census figure, which tells us a talent is three thousand shekels — and that the tabernacle held about three and a half tons of it.
