Bring It If You Want To

The building begins, and the first thing the chapter does is take a census of willingness. Six times in eight verses the text says people gave because their hearts moved them — no assessment, no quota, no penalty for staying home. And the women who spun the thread are called wise hearted, the identical phrase used of Bezalel casting gold. Set this beside the golden calf three chapters earlier: the same people, the same metal, again.
